AILON Terms of Service

1. Acceptance of Terms

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of AILON — AI Insight Linked On Network — (the "App"), an AI news curation and interdisciplinary learning service operated by David Jung (정다윗) (the "Operator"). By accessing or using the App, you agree to be bound by these Terms.

If you do not agree to these Terms, you must not access or use the App.

2. Definitions

1. "Service" refers to all features provided through the App, including AI news curation, interdisciplinary learning content, daily briefings, and all related functionality.
2. "User" refers to any individual who accesses or uses the Service in accordance with these Terms.
3. "Member" refers to a User who has signed in through a Google account.
4. "Content" refers to all information provided within the Service, including news summaries, learning cards, briefings, glossary definitions, and other materials.
5. "User Content" refers to content created by Users, including comments and reports.

3. Eligibility

1. You must be at least 13 years of age to use the App, in compliance with the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA).
2. By using the App, you represent and warrant that you meet this age requirement.
3. If you are between 13 and 18 years of age, you represent that you have your parent's or legal guardian's permission to use the App.

4. Account Registration

1. Certain features of the Service require signing in with a Google account.
2. You must provide accurate information and may not use another person's identity or credentials.
3. You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account. You may not transfer, assign, or share your account with any third party.
4. You are responsible for all activities that occur under your account.

5. Services Provided

The Operator provides the following services:

• AI-related news collection, translation, summarization, and curation from 22 sources
• Interdisciplinary learning content connecting academic principles to AI technology (Snaps)
• Daily AI briefings with text and text-to-speech playback
• Interactive features: likes, bookmarks, comments, and sharing
• Glossary and timeline features
• Bilingual service (Korean/English)
• Push notification service

6. AI-Generated Content Disclaimer

All article summaries, daily briefings, learning content, and other informational materials presented in the App are generated by artificial intelligence (Google Gemini). This AI-generated content:

• May contain inaccuracies: AI-generated summaries may not perfectly represent the original articles. Facts, figures, and context may be incomplete or incorrect.
• Is not professional advice: Content should not be relied upon as legal, financial, medical, or any other form of professional advice.
• May become outdated: The AI processes information at specific intervals and may not reflect the most current developments.
• Should be verified: Users should always refer to the original source articles (linked within the App) for authoritative and complete information.

7. News Content Attribution and Copyright

1. Third-party content: All original news articles belong to their respective authors and publishers. AILON provides AI-generated summaries with links to original articles. We do not claim ownership of any third-party news content.
2. App content: AI-generated summaries, briefings, and learning content created by the App are the intellectual property of the Operator.
3. User content: Copyright in comments and other User Content remains with the User. However, by posting User Content, you grant the Operator a non-exclusive, royalty-free license to display such content within the App for service operation purposes.
4. Restrictions: You may not reproduce, distribute, or commercially exploit any Service content without the prior written consent of the Operator.

8. DMCA Takedown Procedure

We respect the intellectual property rights of others. If you are a copyright owner or authorized agent and believe that content accessible through the App infringes your copyright, you may submit a takedown notice under the Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DMCA).

Filing a DMCA Notice

Your notice must include the following:

1. Identification of the copyrighted work you claim has been infringed.
2. Identification of the material you claim is infringing, with enough detail for us to locate it.
3. Your contact information (name, address, phone number, and email).
4. A statement that you have a good-faith belief that the use of the material is not authorized by the copyright owner, its agent, or the law.
5. A statement, under penalty of perjury, that the information in your notice is accurate and that you are the copyright owner or authorized to act on behalf of the copyright owner.
6. Your physical or electronic signature.

9. Publisher Opt-Out

News publishers and content creators may request that their content be excluded from the AILON service. To opt out, please send an email to ailon.erescenta@gmail.com with the following information:

• The name of your publication or website
• The URL(s) of the RSS feed(s) or domain(s) you wish to have excluded
• Proof of your authority to make this request (e.g., your role at the publication)

We will process opt-out requests within 7 business days and confirm the exclusion via email. Once excluded, no new content from the specified source will be collected or summarized.

10. User Conduct

You agree not to engage in any of the following prohibited activities:

1. Collecting, storing, or disclosing other users' personal information without authorization
2. Using the Service for any unlawful purpose or in violation of applicable laws
3. Interfering with or disrupting the operation or security of the Service
4. Accessing the Service through automated means (bots, scrapers, crawlers) without prior written permission
5. Reproducing, distributing, or commercially exploiting Service content without authorization
6. Posting comments that are defamatory, harassing, threatening, obscene, or otherwise objectionable
7. Spreading misinformation or abusing the Service
8. Impersonating any person or entity, or misrepresenting your affiliation with any person or entity
9. Circumventing or attempting to circumvent any security features of the Service

11. User-Generated Content and Reporting

1. Users may post comments within the App. All comments are subject to the conduct rules in Section 10.
2. Users may report comments that violate these Terms. Reports are reviewed by the Operator.
3. Comments that receive 3 or more reports are automatically hidden from view pending review.
4. The Operator reserves the right to remove any User Content that violates these Terms without prior notice.
5. Users may delete their own comments at any time.

12. Service Modification and Termination

1. The Operator may modify, suspend, or discontinue the Service (or any part thereof) at any time for operational or technical reasons.
2. We will provide advance notice of significant changes or service discontinuation when reasonably possible.
3. The Operator has no obligation to provide compensation for changes to or discontinuation of the free Service.

13. Account Suspension and Termination

1. The Operator may restrict access to the Service or suspend accounts of Users who violate Section 10 of these Terms, following prior notice.
2. In urgent cases (e.g., system attacks, illegal activity), access may be restricted immediately without prior notice.
3. If you believe your account has been suspended in error, you may appeal by contacting us at the email address provided below.

14. Account Deletion

1. You may request account deletion at any time by contacting us via email.
2. Upon deletion, your account information and associated data will be handled in accordance with our Privacy Policy.
3. Publicly posted User Content (such as comments) may remain visible after account deletion unless a separate deletion request is made.

15. Limitation of Liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW:

1. Content accuracy: The Service provides AI-generated news summaries and learning content for informational purposes only. The Operator makes no warranties, express or implied, regarding the accuracy, completeness, reliability, or suitability of any content. You expressly agree that your use of AI-generated content is at your sole risk.
2. Service availability: The Operator shall not be liable for any interruption or unavailability of the Service caused by force majeure events, system failures, or third-party service outages (including Firebase, Google, and Expo).
3. User disputes: The Operator is not obligated to mediate disputes between Users arising from comments or other interactions, but reserves the right to remove content that violates community guidelines.
4. External links: The Operator is not responsible for the content, accuracy, or privacy practices of any external websites linked from the Service.
5. Consequential damages: IN NO EVENT SHALL THE OPERATOR BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO LOSS OF PROFITS, DATA, OR GOODWILL, ARISING OUT OF OR IN CONNECTION WITH YOUR USE OF THE SERVICE.

16. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless the Operator from and against any claims, liabilities, damages, losses, and expenses (including reasonable attorney's fees) arising out of or in connection with:

• Your use of the Service
• Your violation of these Terms
• Your violation of any third-party rights
• Any User Content you post through the Service

17. Privacy

Your use of the Service is also governed by our Privacy Policy, which is incorporated into these Terms by reference.

18. Changes to These Terms

1. The Operator may update these Terms at any time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated effective date.
2. Material changes will be communicated through in-app notifications or email.
3. Your continued use of the Service after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
4. If you do not agree to the revised Terms, you must discontinue use of the Service.

19. Governing Law and Dispute Resolution

1. These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the State of California, United States, without regard to its conflict of law provisions.
2. Any dispute arising out of or relating to these Terms or the Service shall first be resolved through good-faith negotiation between the parties.
3. If a dispute cannot be resolved through negotiation, it shall be submitted to the exclusive jurisdiction of the state and federal courts located in the State of California.

20. Severability

If any provision of these Terms is found to be invalid, illegal, or unenforceable by a court of competent jurisdiction, the remaining provisions shall continue in full force and effect. The invalid provision shall be modified to the minimum extent necessary to make it valid and enforceable.

21. Entire Agreement

These Terms, together with the Privacy Policy, constitute the entire agreement between you and the Operator regarding your use of the Service, and supersede all prior agreements and understandings, whether written or oral.
